Even though it’s #newyearnewme season, here’s your reminder that there are so many things for your wellbeing that should ideally be happening year round, from staying hydrated, to wearing SPF 30+. However, we acknowledge that much of upkeeping your wellbeing is a privilege, especially as it comes to supplements.

Therefore, we’re serving a roundup of five supplements that we think you should invest in year-round, and can be accessed anywhere from drugstores to your favorite online supplement store. As always, none of this should be taken as medical advice, but rather a little knowledgeable wellness pick-me-up. ;)

Zinc

We think this one is super underrated. In fact, our Naturopathic Advisor, Dr. Bryant Esquejo, mentions that 15% of Americans are deficient in zinc (according to an NHANES study in 2020). Zinc can be super helpful for immune function, and reducing inflammation.

Fun fact: When applied topically, it can be great at reducing the appearance of breakouts!

Vitamin B

A jack of all trades. In terms of supplements, she’s her. She’s also multifaceted – you can take vitamin B as niacin, metylfolate, or even methylcobalamin. If you wanted to get super fancy, you can consult with your physician to determine which form of Vitamin B would be most beneficial for your gaps, ranging from mental health and anxiety, to maintaining daily energy levels.

Vitamin D

Check out our seasonal depression post for why we love this supplement. We love Vitamin D as our recommended energetic supplement superstar, especially around the winter months. You can also take this supplement in the form of ergocalciferol (Vitamin D2), or its more common counterpart, cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3).

Digestive enzymes

While there’s no need to take these daily, we totally recommend keeping these around for relief from gas and bloat, especially after a dense or protein-rich meal. Check out our journal post that goes into everything related to enzymes for more information on the topical applications of enzymes as well.

L-Glutamine

According to our ND Advisor, Dr. Bryant Esquejo, l-glutamine can be paired with a probiotic for therapeutic purposes when it comes to gas and bloat. We’ve found that this supplement is typically supplied in a powder form, and can be mainly found in nutritional stores, or in the form of a capsule.

Did we mention we love our ND Advisor, Dr. Bryant Esquejo? You can check out his content on IG and TikTok ☻
